TCILCIP.
[CIP to help the intellectually disabled learn to read new words.]
"EWWW!" "YUCKS!" "NO WAY MAN..." "OMG."
that was many people's initial responses (and many more). but why? these people are born like this or many because of an accident or an illness. you can't blame them for their disability. if they were given a chance, i believe that they will not want to be like that. please, do not discriminate them. help them to learn, not critisizing them. i went for this CIP yesterday and i realised another special thing about them. these people are very extreme. they are either very extrovert or the other way round, introvert. the youngest was about 15 or 16 and the oldest was about 30 or 40. there were quite a few talented aritists amongest them. vivian's buddy was like, drawing on the board and didnt talk at all... i guess they had their personal boards and draw to express their feelings? i paired with someone from 205 [whomiattendedasabbaticlewithlastyear] and our buddy is called Mas David(or Daveed). well, judging from his name, obviously he's not a chinese right? but he's not a malay too. he's an indian who's about 19 years old or so i guess.(he claimed that he is a young adult) initially everyone thought that he was a teacher and no one talked to him... lol! because he looked like a YOUNG ADULT... until some people realised that he was shouting and talking to himself...
Mas read 2 articles - one about being considerate to people on the bus and give up seats to people who needs them more; the other about some cats and dogs apodtion after sichuan earthquake. as he's in the 'smartest' group for this CIP, he was able to read well. however, reading well doesnt mean speaking well. he was shouting all the time and my partner and i were quite worried about his throat.(he was coughing half the time)
after Mas finished reading the articles, we asked him which one he preferred, what he'll do, etc. a while later my friend went to another buddy to take over her classmate(bec she went to the toilet). meanwhile, Mas was talking to me about he will not tolerate inconsiderate people. out of the blue he said that he was not a lazy boy.

"I AM NOT A LAZY BOY! MAS NOT LAZY BOY! I DON'T LIKE LAZY BOY!"
then i was like... stunned. i didnt know what to do and i looked at his teachers. despite the really loud volume, the teachers didnt look around... maybe because the past memories of people calling him lazy suddenly float into his mind... i decided to change subject and claming him down by reassuring him that he is smart and hardworking... then he was happy again :D about 5mins later everyone gathered together and took a group photo. because i wanted to go down to the canteen to buy a drink, i accompanied Mas and his teacher down to the first storey. Isaid bye to Mas and he was like.. "HMPH!" and i was quiteeehurt.. then his teacher was like..."Mas! shake hands with your buddy and say byebye!"he did so, well, unwillingly i guess... i do not understand why he had moodswings.... maybe because he was badly treated the previous time he went to other schools? hmm... hope he gets over his 'emotional trauma' soon!(:
